Relax with the whole family at this beautifully renovated, yet rustic cabin alongside the Columbia lake at Canal Flats. With two fire pits, a large sheltered deck, BBQ, three bedrooms plus an extra sleeping area, and a large living space this is the perfect family get away in a quiet neighbourhood. You are close to Fairmont Hot Springs, multiple golf courses, the lake boat launch, public beach, ski hills, off-road vehicle trails, hiking trails, and lots more. Truly a perfect family getaway!
DRIVEWAY
As you drive through the cut-de-sac you will see Eagle Nest Retreat at the end and on your right. There is a large driveway, suitable for multiple vehicles. During the winter months, we highly recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle.
ENTRANCE
As you enter the property, you arrive the open plan living area. To your left is a small and quaint half bath, to your right the large fully equipped kitchen, and straight ahead is the lounge area.
KITCHEN
The kitchen comes equipped with all the large and small appliances that you would expect in a family kitchen. You will be able to whip up a light snack or full meal in no time. There is a supply of salt, pepper, cooking oil, and coffee for you to use during your stay. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large wooden dining table, long bench, and chairs.
LOUNGE
After a busy day, this is a great area to unwind in. With vaulted ceilings, ceiling fan, large rustic cabin style wooden stair case, and gallery landing there is so much natural light in the space. So, make the most of this tranquil setting and snuggle up on the sofa, put your favourite film on, or curl up and read a book. Please note, the pellet fireplace you see in the photos is not to be used. From the lounge, there are doors out to the beautiful deck area.
DECK AND FIREPITS
The sheltered outdoor dining area with BBQ and fire pit overlooks the large back yard and the Columbia Lake. The views are quite wonderful from here. Please bring your own wood for the fire pit (please check for fire bans first). As you look towards the lake, to your right is the second fire pit area. This is a little more rustic and along the boundary line with our neighbours. Please note, there is no fence in the garden.
BEDROOMS
For your comfort, all our beds are dressed in hotel quality linens. There is a bedroom with a twin over queen bunk, another bedroom with a twin sized bunk, and a master bedroom with a huge chunky wooden framed king bed. There is also a ceiling fan and lovely garden views. All the bedrooms have a closet with drawer and hanging space.
WORK SPACE AND EXTRA BED
If you need to work away from home you will find a large dedicated work space on the landing that is ideal. And if you need an extra bed you will find a queen Murphy bed here too.
INSUITE LAUNDRY
Opposite the workspace you will find an alcove with a washer-dryer. You are welcome to use this during your stay.
BATHROOM
Next to the laundry area is a freshly renovated and exquisite full bathroom. There's a fully restored clawfoot tub with perfect lake views, and a large open shower with tiled seating. This is one bath or shower you won't want to rush! There is a supply of locally made hand soap and body wash/shampoo, and of course hotel quality towels.
OUTSIDE
The large yard overlooks beautiful Columbia Lake, and has a horseshoe pit, a fire pit in the rear deck, a second open fire pit away from the house, covered storage beside the house, and terrific 360 degree views. Please bring your own wood to burn.
KEEPING THE PROPERTY COOL
There's a window air con unit upstairs and fans in some of the bedrooms. To keep downstairs cool during the day we highly recommend keeping all the blinds down at all times. Please also ensure all the thermostats are low.

Canal Flats is a small village located in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. It is situated on the shores of Columbia Lake, which is the headwaters of the Columbia River. You will need a vehicle to get here and to access the Town of Canal Flats.
You can walk to the lake from Eagle Nest Retreat but it is recommended to drive.
If you have any kind of allergy please reach out to us prior to booking.
There is very limited cell service but we have excellent wifi. So, please make sure to enable wifi calling when you check in.
Please note, that the driveway can be tricky to navigate if you don’t turn around before leaving, we highly recommend that you drive out forwards. Also, although we maintain the driveway, a 4WD or AWD is recommended for wintertime. If in doubt feel free to park up the top.
And finally, we kindly ask guests to remove their garbage (especially if there is excessive garbage). You can find where to do so within your guest portal.
If unable to do so, we can organize a garbage removal service for a fee.
For our Airbnb guests, we offer an optional Guest Damage Protection policy (aka Damage Waiver) that covers accidental damages up to CA$1000. This policy is designed to protect you from being charged for unforeseen incidents that might occur during your stay. Opting into this coverage allows you to enjoy your time without worrying about minor mishaps.
